WFAA: Affordable housing complex to spark more growth in Hutchins

HUTCHINS, TEXAS – The demand for affordable housing is rather heavy across North Texas right now. An increasing number of families are searching for affordable housing, but agencies say there just are not enough options.

That’s why a popular developer, Matthews Southwest, is partnering with Dallas-based shelter Family Gateway. The two teams are working to provide more families with possible solutions.

“The face of Hutchins is changing,” said Bernice Matthews as she looked at renderings of the new complex, Gateway at Hutchins. The longtime resident says there is a noticeable boom of construction taking place in the rural southern Dallas County city of Hutchins. MORE
