Despite the icy conditions Friday, the 2023 Crystal Charity Ball members gathered at Dallas Arts District Mansion bright and early for the final presentations by the 2023 beneficiary hopeful Dallas children’s charities.
By the end of the day, the following seven area non-profits were selected to benefit from the CCB’s year-long fundraising efforts:
- After-School All-Stars for a comprehensive, cost-free after-school program for high-needs middle school youth in Dallas — $596,565 (three years)
- Buckner Children And Family Services for strengthening and expanding children and youth programming at the three Buckner Family Hope Centers Dallas — $995,663 (two years)
- Fair Park First for a community park: a 40-year promise for revitalization at Fair Park — $1,000,000
- Family Gateway for mobile crisis response unit for families and children experiencing homelessness — $1,032,000 (three years)
- Metrocare Services for Metrocare’s behavioral health innovation center at Hillside — $912,881 (three years)
- The Salvation Army of North Texas for childcare center at The Salvation Army’s new Dallas social service center — $1,349,804
- YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas for the revitalization of Park South Family YMCA – Preschool — $799,218 (two years)
2023 CCB Chair Angie Kadesky and her committee of 99 will now undertake ten months of raising $6,686,131 to continue the organization’s decades of providing for Dallas children.
For the seven beneficiaries, being selected after months of applying, being vetted and making presentations means not only a sizable check but also, as one former beneficiary said, “It’s like the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.”
