Good Life Family – The Gateway to Opportunity Luncheon, held on September 27th, at the Omni Hotel, raised more than $500,000 for the 30-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to end child homelessness. Today Show contributor Jenna Bush Hager was the guest speaker; the former teacher gave an emotional keynote before taking questions from WFAA’s Ron Corning. Honorary Chairs were Tracy and Kent Rathbun. Special Advisors were fundraising experts Gina Betts and D’Andra Simmons. Metro PCS was the presenting sponsor.
Family Gateway opened in 1986 when Mayor Pro Tem Annette G. Strauss saw families living on the streets of Dallas and envisioned a facility where homeless families could stay together as a family unit in a safe place.
