Updates

Sadly, our prior downtown home located at 711 S. St. Paul has been in the news in the summer of 2024.  The property was returned to the City of Dallas (the building owner) in the summer of 2023, and we mutually terminated our 30+ year lease officially at a fall 2023 City Council meeting.  During the interim period when we vacated the building and officially turned over the keys, Family Gateway and/or the City of Dallas provided 24 x 7 security coverage of the property.  Once the City Council formally terminated our long-term lease, security services ceased, and sadly, the property has been vandalized multiple times.

We are very grateful for Interim City Manager Kim Tolbert’s responsiveness to our concerns about the condition of our original home.  Please see the following statement from the City of Dallas regarding this issue:

Family Gateway did in fact fully vacate the property in late summer 2023. Family Gateway participated in walk throughs with the City of Dallas, to ensure the building was completely clean prior to turning in the keys. Family Gateway has no responsibility for the activity that transpired after vacating the property, or the current state of 711 S. St. Paul.         

It is discouraging that our former property, with so many beloved memories, has been desecrated, but we are encouraging our team members, donors and families who were served in this facility to retain their fond memories and to not let the challenges of late take away from the hope and healing that was found in our prior building.
