The Gateway To Opportunity Luncheon will feature Daymond John, entrepreneur, co-star on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” and CEO and President of lifestyle brand FUBU at the Omni Dallas Hotel on Thursday, September 26.
Daymond started a global movement from the basement of his mother’s house by capitalizing on the then fledgling hip-hop culture. Eventually, rappers were wearing his clothes in music videos and red carpets while Daymond worked as a waiter at Red Lobster to make ends meet. His inspiring story reminds us that with perseverance, passion and a supportive community, anyone can rise to the challenge and overcome adversity. Daymond John is recognized worldwide for his relentless commitment to promoting and supporting entrepreneurs. He initially made his mark as an entrepreneur and branding expert behind the groundbreaking lifestyle brand, FUBU, which has eclipsed more than $6 billion in global retail sales. Daymond credits a great deal of his success to his mom who worked multiple jobs to put food on the table. He faced several hardships growing up in Hollis, Queens. After his neighborhood was hit with the crack epidemic in the 1980s, many of his friends became drug dealers, some of whom lost their lives.
