Jack Matthews is known for developing landmark properties such as Southside on Lamar, Gilley’s, the Omni Dallas Hotel, and the upcoming expansion of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas. Beyond these iconic projects, he has been a driving force in expanding affordable housing across Dallas and the DFW metroplex, partnering with nonprofit agencies to create sustainable solutions for families in need.
We are especially grateful for his collaboration with Family Gateway on a 336-unit affordable housing development in Hutchins, Texas. Through this innovative partnership, he shared a portion of the developer fee and established a sustainable funding stream that has allowed us to create an emergency fund—ensuring we can continue to serve vulnerable families with confidence, even in uncertain times.
Jack’s commitment to community impact extends far beyond our organization. His leadership has been instrumental in delivering more than 650 units of affordable housing across North Texas, working with numerous nonprofit partners to address one of the most pressing challenges facing low-income families today.
It is only fitting that we celebrate his contributions at Gilley’s this fall and honor him in 2025 with the Annette G. Strauss Community Service Award. Jack’s vision for community-centered development has not only transformed skylines but has also transformed lives, and we are proud to recognize his extraordinary impact.
