Explore Horizons, a local tutoring and enrichment provider, is pleased to announce a partnership with Dallas homeless shelter, Family Gateway. As part of the partnership, Explore Horizons will be offering voluntary educational support services in math, reading and writing once a month to children who are living at the shelter.
“My first experience of supporting the children at Family Gateway was so rewarding. These children are full of love and excitement for learning and myself and my coworkers are delighted to have the chance to share our tutoring expertise with as many children as possible,” said Belinda Southgate, Head of U.S. Marketing for Explore Horizons. “Our goal is to build fearless learners, so helping these vulnerable children to build confidence in their academics perfectly aligns with Explore Horizons’ mission.”
“The mission of Family Gateway is to provide stability and life-changing supportive services to children and families affected by homelessness,” says Ellen Magnis, Family Gateway CEO. “Education services are especially important and we want to be sure we are giving the children here at Family Gateway every opportunity to grow, learn and stay on top of their education – and Explore Horizons is providing exactly that.”
In addition to providing safe and stable housing as well as comprehensive case management, Family Gateway works with a variety of partner agencies to deliver a wide array of services to its clients, including mental and physical health care; employment readiness and job training; financial literacy classes; and educational support, such as preschool and afterschool programs, GED preparation classes, and assistance seeking higher education.
