How to Get Involved at Family Gateway
Did you know we’re neighbors?!
Family Gateway is less than half a mile from AT&T’s Corporate Headquarters in downtown Dallas. In fact, most of you probably pass by our shelter on the corner of St. Paul and Canton St. during your daily commutes.
Our mission is to provide stability and life-changing supportive services to children and families affected by homelessness. Use the menu to the left to learn more about our programs and services.
There are a variety of ways you and your coworkers at AT&T can get involved, including:
- Planning activities for children
- Tutoring children during the school year (4 to 6 pm Mondays through Fridays)
- Assisting with camp during school breaks (Summer, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring breaks)
- Adopting-a-Room or simply getting one ready for a new family moving in
- Adopting-a-Family: help a family in their transition from the shelter to an apartment
- Organizing an in-kind donation drive
- Teaching an adult class
- Cooking/serving a meal
- Cleaning/facilities maintenance
- Participating in special events such as Boo Bash or the Holiday Store
Becoming a volunteer is super easy! Here’s how:
- Complete the volunteer application found here.
- Complete this background check and send it to Kathy Kidwell at kkidwell@familygateway.org.
- Once your application and background check have been approved, sign up for your desired volunteer opportunity here.
- Come have fun with our kids and their families!
